Located some twelve kilometers from Domaine de Cortenzo, this quiet village is full of charm and interest, with its old houses, narrow streets joined by arcades, and foremost, its castle rebuilt around the donjon in the 15th century. The castle is open every day, from July to mid-September.
Thueyts
Venture on the "Devil's Bridge" in Thueyts.
A few kilometers from Domaine de Cortenzo, go for a stroll and take some time to sit and relax on one of the rocks to admire this remarkable arched stone bridge, said to have been built in Roman times. You can then continue your hike towards the "Giant's Causeway", and "The Queen's Ladder."
Balazuc
Located about fifteen kilometers from Domaine de Cortenzo, clinging to the side of a cliff overlooking the Ardèche, this village has a rich medieval heritage. From the opposite bank, once you cross the bridge, you will have the most spectacular view of Balazuc.
Vallon Pont d'Arc
The Chauvet cave or Caverne du Pont d'Arc. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the cave is one of the greatest masterpieces of prehistoric art, adorned with more than 420 drawings and engravings. It is believed to be 35,000 years old, making it the oldest known to date in the world.
Orgnac
L'Aven d'Orgnac, located near Vallon Pont d'Arc.
The Aven d'Orgnac is one of the most remarkable caves in Europe,
due to its size, and massive stalactites that are over 6,000 years old.
Nature and sport-lovers who appreciate unusual discoveries can explore the cave of Aven d'Orgnac and embark on a breathtaking tour 121 meters below the ground to admire the Red chamber and its grandiose decor of spectacular beauty.
